Dr. Shabana Khan, Founder and Director

Dr. Shabana Khan is the founder and director of the Indian Research Academy. She is the member of Global Young Academy where co-leads the group on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction. She is the World Social Science Fellow on Risk Interpretation and Action with International Social Science Council, and is the Vice-president of the Society, Madhursmriti, which is the Alumni Association of Kamala Nehru College, University of Delhi. She is also a visiting faculty member at the School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi. Dr. Khan completed her PhD from the Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. She is an active researcher and has more than 15 years of research experience in the field of disasters, climate change and other environmental risks. Since then she has travelled across 11 countries and presented her research in 28 national and international conferences. She has 29 publications in the leading national and international peer reviewed journals, books and reports. She is an active reviewer for 13 international peer reviewed journals on natural hazards, disasters, climate change, environment and sustainability.

Her latest research include Uttarakhand disaster, water governance in Delhi and positioning young scientists working in the field of climate change and DRR. Dr. Khan has worked on various national and international research projects such as National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project with SEEDS Technical Consultancy and Chance2Sustain with University of Amsterdam. Her past work profile include working as an assistant professor at the Department of Geography, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi, as a research fellow and visiting faculty at the School of Planning and architecture, as a research officer at the Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi, as a researcher at the New Zealand Climate Change Research Institute, as a visiting scholar at the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA), Wellington, and as a teaching assistant at the Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.

 


 

Dr. Reena Singh, Faculty and Regional coordinator, Kolkata

Reena Singh is PhD from the University of Cologne, Germany. She worked on the project `Vulnerability in Megacities: A New Approach to Analyze Urban Water System in Delhi (India) funded by German Research Foundation. Her research work concentrates primarily on urban and social issues as well as environmental problems and policies. She has worked on various short and long term research projects on natural resource management and poverty alleviation in India, and has also worked for a non-government organization towards development of urban poor in Kolkata. Dr. Singh has numerous publications in the form of articles and chapters in proceedings, books and reports. She has presented her research in various national and international conferences.

 


 

Dr. K.B. Chari, GIS Faculty, Hyderabad

Dr. Chari has over 15 years of professional expertise in the areas of GIS, Remote Sensing, Geodesy, Ecology, Environmental Impact Assessment, Natural Resource Mapping & Management, and Software Development. Dr Chari got his MS, MPhil & PhD from Pondicherry University. He has published 4 books, 30 research papers, designed and developed three GIS software tools, and received CSIR award in recognition of excellence in scientific pursuit.

Cherian Joseph has17 years of work experience across industries in varied profiles with a strong focus on higher education, customer acquisition, customer management and customer delight. Responsible for successfully managing the entire life cycle of international student recruitment, providing end to end seamless solutions and guidance covering course and country selection, visa assistance, cultural expectations and appropriate behaviors. He is also the Admission Advisor (International Division) to Institute of Marketing and Management, New Delhi.

 


 

Shahina Khan, Advisor, International Business Relations

Ms. Khan, with more than nineteen years of experience, is a renowned expert of international student recruitment business. She has worked on international education promotional strategies with many foreign institutions in various countries including Australia, New Zealand, UK, Singapore, Dubai, Malaysia, Canada and USA. Ms Khan has been mentor of many research students and she has helped students gain admission in research programs and achieve prestigious scholarships including Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships. Helping students succeed in their studying abroad journey is her passion and her book Study in Australia Planner (www.studyinaustraliaplanner.com) is a preparation tool which is supported by the organisations like Westpac and Vodafone in Australia and Credila HDFC in India.
